How do you get a bigger return per square metre?

Everything Growers United does is in the interest of our own growers and the retailers. For our growers it’s all about the return per square metre in the greenhouse, while supermarkets want bigger returns per square metre in store. Our retail marketing team makes a connection between the two. Not because we want a larger slice of the cake but because we want to make the whole cake bigger.

But how do you increase returns on the shop floor? First of all, by analysing consumer behaviour and responding to it. For example, did you know that there is a difference between what a consumer says they are going to buy and what they actually put in the shopping trolley? By doing research and analysing scanning data, we can get an answer to both of these questions. This provides us with interesting information which enables our customers to increase their sales. And secondly, we have to keep making efforts to get consumers to eat fruit vegetables multiple times a day. That’s the challenge we share, and it’s one I am keen to keep repeating. A tomato on bread for breakfast, a little cucumber as an afternoon snack, pasta with aubergine for supper and a sweet pepper as tapas with drinks. Eating more fruit vegetables per day is a win-win situation for all links in the supply chain. And it benefits the consumer’s health, too.

Want to talk this through with us? Then why not visit us at our booth at Fruit Logistica in Berlin. Or contact one of our account managers directly. In the meantime, we wish you a wonderful festive season!
