At Growers United, we work together to turn sustainability into concrete action. We call this Sustainable Together. As part of this approach, we focus on clear objectives, measurable indicators and gaining insight into our progress. For example, we calculate the environmental footprint of our crops every year. At the same time, we share stories and practical examples from the field.
We focus on nine themes: energy, water, crop protection, packaging, waste streams from cultivation, other waste streams, employees, flexible labour and consumers.
Science-Based Targets (SBTi)
For greenhouse gas emissions, Growers United has set clear targets. These science-based targets define how much and how quickly Growers United aims to reduce its emissions. The targets have been assessed and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The validation was completed on 9 March 2026.
Net-zero Target- 2040
Growers United aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2040.
Near-term Target– 2030
Growers United aims to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 43.05% by 2030, compared with the 2021 base year.
Growers United aims to reduce its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services by 51.6% per tonne of product sold by 2030, compared with the 2021 base year.
Long-term Targets– 2040
Growers United aims to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90.0% by 2040, compared with the 2021 base year.
Growers United aims to reduce its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services by 97.0% per tonne of product sold by 2040, compared with the 2021 base year.
